Learn how to process orders placed via Order Anywhere through the Restaurant POS app. This article covers both table and pickup online orders.
Processing table orders
Table orders are those placed from within your restaurant by scanning the QR code attached to a table. To learn how to set up Table order profiles for Order Anywhere, see Creating profiles.
- Customer places a table order. To learn how this works, see How customers use Order Anywhere.
- Order appears on the Tables screen for the table where it was placed.
- Kitchen and/or bar tickets either automatically print for the order or must be manually printed.
- If set to automatically accept online orders, tickets will automatically print for the order.
- If set to manually accept online orders, manually print order tickets by tapping the table on the Tables screen to edit the order and selecting Send.
- Select the table on the Tables screen to edit or close out the order.
- To edit the order, make changes as needed (for example, to add or remove items). To learn more about managing orders at the POS, see our Restaurant POS articles.
Important: Changes made to orders at the POS will not be reflected in Order Anywhere reporting. If an order was paid online by the customer with a debit or credit card and its total changes at the POS, you will either need to manually refund a portion of the order in Stripe (if the total decreases) or accept an in-person payment at the POS for the difference (if the total increases). - To close out the order, tap Pay to accept an in-person payment or to finalize an order paid online by the customer via credit or debit card.
Processing pickup orders
Pickup orders are orders placed by scanning the QR code or visiting the URL for a Pickup profile. To learn how to set up Pickup order profiles for Order Anywhere, see Creating profiles.
- Customer places a pickup order. To learn how this works, see How customers use Order Anywhere.
- Order appears on the Takeout screen with a badge icon indicating the number of new orders.
Important: Orders scheduled for a future pickup date will appear in the Restaurant POS app immediately after they are placed by the customer. To learn how to view which specific orders are due for future days, see Order reporting for Order Anywhere.
- Kitchen and/or bar tickets either automatically print for the order or must be manually printed.
- If set to automatically accept online orders, tickets will automatically print for the order and the order will appear in the Accepted section of the Takeout screen.
- If set to manually accept online orders, manually print order tickets by tapping the order in the New section of the Takeout screen and selecting Send. The order will move from the New section to Accepted.
- Select the order on the Takeout screen to edit or close it out.

Frequently asked questions
When do newly-placed Order Anywhere orders sync to my POS?
Order Anywhere orders sync to the Restaurant POS app immediately after being placed by the customer.
When do order tickets print for Order Anywhere orders?
If set to automatically accept online orders, tickets will automatically print for the order as soon as it syncs to the POS. If set to manually accept online orders, you will need to manually print order tickets according to the steps outlined above.
What happens if no POS devices are online to receive an incoming Order Anywhere order?
If no devices are online when an order is sent to the POS, the order will attempt to sync for several minutes. After that time, the order will either be canceled (if no POS device can be reached) or it will successfully sync (if a POS device comes online).
Do customers receive any order notifications?
Yes. Customers receive a confirmation email after they place the order and, when payment is made, an email with their receipt.
How can I check the status of an order?
To view an order’s status, visit the Orders page in the Order Anywhere Back Office. There you can see if an order has been sent to the POS, if it failed, or was canceled.
Can I limit the number of pickup orders I receive?
Yes. You can enable a maximum number of orders per available time slot so that employees aren’t overwhelmed by unexpected order volume. To learn more, visit our Creating profiles article.
Can I change the preparation time required for orders?
Yes. To change the preparation time, visit your order settings for Order Anywhere.
What's next?
- If the restaurant gets busy and staff cannot keep up, pause incoming orders to prevent customers from ordering. Resume incoming orders to accept orders once again.
- Edit an Order Anywhere profile, menu, or menu item whenever changes are needed, such as if pricing increases.
