To make transactions using Lightspeed Payments, there are a few configuration steps to complete in Restaurant Manager. This article outlines how to configure Lightspeed Payments for your account:
- Confirm Lightspeed Payments as a processor
- Create a payment type button
- Enable tipping
- Upload a custom logo
Confirm Lightspeed Payments as a processor
After your application has been approved, our Payments team will set up Lightspeed Payments on your account. To confirm that your account is configured and ready to use:
- Navigate to Restaurant Manager.
- Go to Payments > Payments Processors.
- If Lightspeed Payments has been added to your account, you will see the Lightspeed Payments button on this page. If you do not see Lightspeed Payments as a processor type in Manager, please wait until your application has been approved or reach out to our Support team.
Create a payment button for the POS
In order for Restaurant POS to recognize Lightspeed Payments as a payment option, you must create a Lightspeed Payments button from Manager. Lightspeed Payments is automatically added as a payment type once your application has been approved, so all you need to do after approval is create a payment-type button. Once created, this button will appear on the Restaurant POS app and allow users to process transactions with Lightspeed Payments. To create a payment-type button:
- Log-in to Restaurant Manager.
- From the left-hand menu, go to Payments > Payment Types.
- Select the Add Payment button on the top-left corner of the page. A pop-up window for adding the payment-type button will appear.
- From the Add a Payment Type pop-up, select Lightspeed Payments from the Type drop-down list.
- Give the payment type a name (such as Card or Credit/Debit), specify your settings and select Save. For more information on creating a payment-type button, see Adding a payment type. Note that the payment-type name will appear on receipts.
NOTE: Since Lightspeed Payments is an integrated payments processor, you only need to create one card payment button for your POS. Reports will distinguish the card type used in the transaction.
Enable tipping
If you require tipping as part of a payments workflow at your restaurant, this setting will need to be enabled from Restaurant Manager. To enable tipping:
- Log-in to Restaurant Manager.
- From the left-hand menu, go to Devices > Restaurant app settings.
- Scroll down to the section Payments and Tips and select Sign on Device from the first drop-down setting option.
- From the same grouping of settings, select the Prompt for Tip checkbox. This means customers will be prompted to add a tip when processing a transaction with Lightspeed.
- Customize the tip prompt amounts by filling out the Tip percentages fields. Common tip percentages include 15, 18 and 20%.
Upload a custom logo and background when Sign on Device enabled
If you have set up Lightspeed Payments to prompt for a tip, the setting Sign on Device must be enabled. This means a user will turn the iOS device towards the customer so they may input their own tip amount. When Sign on Paper is enabled, the POS user completes the transaction from start to finish and does not turn the iOS device to the customer. For Sign on Device, you may choose to have a company logo present on the transaction screen for customers to view when completing a transaction. The logo will display from the amount confirmation screen. To upload a custom logo:
- Log-in to Restaurant Manager.
- From the left-hand menu, go to Settings > CFD App Settings.
- From the CFD App Settings page, add an image URL to the Logo field.
NOTE: It is only possible to add a custom logo to the Lightspeed Payments screen - it is not possible to add a background image at this time.
