Hi. How can we help?

About categories

Categories organize your products into logical groups. For example, Starters and Mains.

Category types

  • Standard categories: Create standard categories to group your products in, such as Starters and Mains, and special categories for Discount and Service Charge products. An organized category structure helps you manage your products and add products to orders. Because discounts can be set to apply to products within specific categories, you can also use categories to group products for discounting purposes. See Creating Discounts.

  • Shortcut categories: A shortcut category groups products from standard categories into a shortcut category. For example, you can group frequently ordered products into a shortcut category. You can also use shortcut categories to group products for discounting purposes. Products that are added to a shortcut category are not duplicated in your system.

Category behaviours

  • All products in a category have the same tax rate, unless specified otherwise within a product.
  • All products in a category have the same modifiers, unless specified otherwise within a product.
  • All products in a category are printed to the same printer.
  • All products in a category are of the same course, such as main dish or dessert.
