Logging in to Restaurant POS

Log in to the Restaurant POS app to open a new session, take orders, or use other POS functions. Before employees can log in as described below, an admin user must sign in to Restaurant POS to link your Lightspeed account to the app.

There are three ways to log in:

Login method Description
Password

User has an alphanumeric password that they enter to log in. If a password is not set, all users will have access via USER LOGIN. Visit Creating users to learn how to set passwords.

PIN code

User has a 4-digit PIN code that they enter to log in. To ensure PIN users can only log in with their PIN, set a password as well. Visit Creating users to learn how to set PIN codes.

Login card

User has a physical login card that they swipe to log in. Visit Assigning a login card to learn how to set up this feature.

Using a password to log in

  1. On the User screen, tap the USER LOGIN button at the top.
  2. Tap your user image.
  3. Enter your password.

  4. Tap Done.

Using a PIN code to log in

  1. (Optional) Create a password to prevent PIN users from using USER LOGIN.
  2. On the User screen, tap the PIN LOGIN button.
  3. Enter your unique 4-digit PIN code.

Using a login card

Lightspeed no longer sells login cards. Existing login cards will continue to work, but new cards aren't available to order.

Important: Login cards require some setup before you can use them at the POS. To learn more, visit our Assigning a login card article.

  1. On the User screen, swipe a login card through a supported card swiper synced to your POS.
